A SIMPLE TEST TO FIND YOUR CHILD SPEECH LANGUAGE AGE

1 - 2 yrs	§   have 8-10 words(18 mo), 10-20 words (20 mo), 20-50 (22 mo), 50-100 (1 yr)? §   sometime repeat requests? §   ask 1-2 word questions ("where   kitty? go bye-bye? more?")? §   put at least 2 words together ("more   cookie")? §   label pictures and objects?

5 yrs	§   say all sounds correctly except s and th §   use the same sentence structure as the   family? §   use a clear voice like other children? §   repeat verbatim a series of numbers out   of sequence (auditory memory)? §   seek answers to thought-provoking  questions (“why did that happen?”)

1-2 NO: CAUTION! Your child may have delayed speech and language development.
